Apple iPhone Software

The iPhone, just like ipod is run by the iPhone Operating System. This Operating system is similar to the one used by Mac OS X. The operating system eats up less than half of the total GB of device’s total memory, approximately 240 megabytes. Similar to iPod, iPhone applications is managed by software called iTunes. Phone update can also be done through iTunes. The user interface of iPhone’s Operating system is based on the concept of direct manipulation and multi touch gestures. The operating system is also composed of control elements including sliders, switches and buttons that include handy browsing tools to find cell phone numbers online. Version 3.1 of iPhone Operating system was formally announced by Apple on September 9, 2009. It was immediately followed by an updated 3.1.2 version. An ARM-based processor is the central processing unit used in the iPhone and also iPod touch. The iPhone software has for abstraction layers. These are the Cores Operating system layer, the Core Services layer, the Media layer, and the Cocao Touch layer. On January 2008, a software update was introduced that would allow the 1st generation iPhone to use cell tower and Wi-Fi network locations. The iPhone Operating system does not support Adobe flash and flash movies on web page.
